Truancy Mediation: Helping Youth to Stay in School
Naylor, Kerrie; Elton, Kathy M.. VOMA Connections, No. 8, pp. 6-8, Winter 2001
This article describes a pilot program in Utah designed to keep truancy cases out of the juvenile court system. The program is a collaborative effort between the courts and the schools. The student, the student's parents, and a team from the school all attend the mediation session, which is conducted by a volunteer mediator recruited and supervised by the Administrative Office of the Courts.
